Mods. please delete if not allowed.

Ok so lately now that I'm not sick anymore I've gained some weight and am working on getting it off in a healthy way, through exercise and eating healthy. But every so often I like to have pizza or something like that, every time I do eat these food I feel like I'm fat (even though I know I'm not) and I have an urge to workout overtime which leads to me becoming sick. Is this normal because even before I got sick I never felt like this. Or because since these foods contain milk & I'm lactose intolerant it makes me feel bloated (*sigh* I know why am I eating milk product?! I really don't know why, haven't gotten myself away from it)?

Thanks & like up at the top if this is considered off-topic please delete it.

Okay, so this is a sensitive subject for me, but I'd like to share my story with you guys to see if you've had similar experiences.

I've been with my partner for almost 4 years. Ever since we met we've had conflicts with food, but it didn't really become a problem until we started living together two years ago. I love my partner to death, but he truly cannot stand fruits or vegetables while I LOVELOVELOVE them. His lack of desire/inability to eat vegetables has especially gotten between us, to the point where we've decided to cook solo for every day of the week except for one. On this one day, I find myself compromising for him all the time - i.e. no fruit or veggie in sight at the meal. This would be fine if it happened once in a while, but it's every single meal we actually eat together and it makes me want to eat with him less and less, especially because I'm trying to shed 10 to 20 lbs over the next few months.

So that is the situation. I am a near vegetarian (flirted with the idea of becoming vegan, but haven't, due to lack of finances and the at-home food conflict) who's in love with and living with a carnivore who nearly gags at the smell of broccoli and carrots. This is not a passing issue, I've realized, and he truly will not eat any vegetable that is not a naked salad (just lettuce) with salad dressing.

Sigh. I hate to sound like a complete bitch about this, but has anyone encountered a similar problem? If so, how have you resolved it so that it doesn't interfere with your weight/health goals?

So, it's day four of my diet/exercise program. I've been working my ass off restricting and exercising, and here are my stats so far:

Starting weight: 145
Current weight: 141 (a pound a day, woot)
Height: 5'4
HW: 165
LW: 130

GW1: 138 by Christmas
GW2: 134 by January 10th
UGW: 125 by Feb. 14th

Hoping to get there in Feb. doing it the healthy way. (mostly... sometimes I go overboard, but I'm careful)
So far 800 calories today. I'm looking to not go over 1200, and get about 300-400 off in the gym, plus some at home work-outs.

Some really cool diet foods:
Quaker White cheddar rice cakes (45 calories a piece)
Weight Watchers cookies n' cream bars (130 calories)
Jennie O turkey patties (170 calories per patty, plus 20g of protein!!! Makes you feel SOSO full.)
think thin bars from Trader Joe's (200-250 per bar, but I only have a half bar for breakfast, so it's all good)
Ooh, I also found some really good sourdough bread that's only 55 calories a slice... heaven. Plus 1/2 tablespoon l/f spread makes for a grand total of 80 calories.

A little bit about my journey before this:
Was way overweight in high school, 165 pounds (and I'm being frugal, I was probably heavier), got really disgusted with myself and dieted really. really unhealthily. Try 600 calories or less a day, plus running off at least 400 of those calories. Got down to my lowest weight (130) in two months. In the three years since then the number had crept up to 138, then BAM this last semester it exploded up to 148. Ten pounds in ten weeks?? No bueno. Lost some weight without keeping track, but began to fall off again, so decided to keep track at fitday.com (awesome free resource), but felt I wasn't going to stay on track without consistent journaling as well as a community to keep my accountable. Hopefully on lj I can find both.

Well, off to work, then the gym.

I started a group on weightchart.com. It's really cool, you create a graph of your weight loss progress. Everyone within a group can share with one another and motivate one another. It's a great way to see progress! We can have group challenges and competitions.

Give me your email address and I'll send you an invite.
It should be a lot of fun!

Ugh, why is it sooo easy for me to keep up a running routine, but I can't manage to get a yoga, stretching, or weight routine off the ground?

Anyone have some hints, inspiration, or a kick in the rear for me? Much appreciated!

Today I had my monthly "progress report" and rather confused/p.oed over the results.

Appearance-wise I seem to have made a little progress, but when I weighed myself I literally haven't budged. Still at 137lbs at 5'3" for a BMI of 24.3. Gerr, I hate being that close to "overweight". Granted I hit the scale after my workout so I had ~600ml of water in me, but that's not enough to make a real difference. I know I must be building a little muscle from doing weights and crunches/pilates but I've been particularly careful about doing light reps and not putting the resistance up too high for machine cardio. So new muscle really shouldn't be making a big impact, at least not enough to prevent any sort of loss. So...wtf is going on?!

My diet has been good, I finally got my small appetite back from only eating when hungry so maybe intake 1000-2000cals a day. I've cut out dairy and beer (most alcohol, but particularly beer) and try to avoid processed crap. Plus I lack a sweet tooth so I rarely have sugar, well, unless PMSing (you know how that goes) I can srsly see and feel progress, but why isn't it showing up in the numbers?

I've tried so much I'm just not sure what else I can do. This is getting frustrating, how can you plateau without any loss? Bah! Halp!

<[ if your interested, I've put up "before and after" pics of myself on my diet journal ([info]froglegs87 ) temporarily. Constructive criticism welcomed, but plz be nice ]>

I'm doing this mini workout program in addition to my regular cardio. Here it is (please ignore the stupid name)

prom dress workout routine )

10 pounds in 21 days, yeah right. I wish!
Anyways, I think it's a good little exercise routine. I'm on day 3 at the moment, anyone want to join me?

Update!

Height- 5'7.5"
Age-17
Start weight- 160
Current weight- 145.5
Goal weight- 135ish
Additional info- I take Yaz, and Zoloft, both of which cause weight gain over the course of a year. As well as exercising on my own I'm on the weightlifting team at my school. The calorie counter I use is the LoseIt! application for the iPod touch.

I've been calorie counting since about June of this summer. I've successfully been extremely healthy in my diet and have had no trouble motivating myself to exercise, but unfortunately fell off the band wagon from last week until now: eating larger portions, unhealthy junk, and not counting calories whatsoever. As of Monday I began counting calories again- I was over my limit yesterday but at least I'm back to counting. While I'm proud of the weight I've lost, I'd still like to let go of those last few pounds on my stomach...ugh, those last few pounds. Once I'm rid of that little donut around my middle I'm happy with my weight but until then I'll be dissatisfied. Once I reach it I can probably post a before and after picture- is that allowed?

Anyways, thanks for supporting. This is a great community :)

Over eating sucks

I know its emotional

I'm stressed! I eat ( used to not eat....don't like this "new" coping mechanism! Me and food need to get along!!)

Anything you all do when you'r super stressed to avoid overeating?

btw thanks for the comeents to my previous entry on this similar question. Tweaking for more protein makes me feel fuller ( physically but NOW I'm an emotional black hole *sigh)

**FINAL EDIT Thu Dec 10 02:15:47 UTC 2009**

So there is the final update... Over the past day we have processed around 11 million jobs out of the 12 million that were in queue at that time. Please bear in mind that over this past day, more jobs for notifications are also created. So while the queue has been dropping, we are still not fully caught up at this point, due to backlog and new jobs. We have roughly 3 million jobs still pending that involve the notification system in some manner. We had hoped we could have fully cleared the queue in a day, but unfortunately we can't clear it too quickly, since we need the rest of the site to operate normally. From our current perspective on the amount of jobs that are left in queue, and how many it has processed thus far, we believe it will take around another 8 - 12 hours to process everything.

And finally some answers to some questions:

Hi,

I haven't been at LJ for a long time but I've recently decided to start blogging about my journey on improving my relationship with food. I'm not on a diet. I have been seeing a nutritionist for 2 months now and I'm doing this thing called "intuitive eating". My name is Jenny and I'm 26 years old. I'd like to loose about 50 pounds but like I said .. right now I'm just trying to improve my relationship with food.

It's nice to meet you all :)
